What is this business waste collection cost calculator?

This calculator estimates collection spending for a per-container, per-pickup billing model. It annualizes the weekly service schedule over 52 weeks and adds monthly fixed fees. The monthly result is an average budget allocation, not a prediction of each invoice.

How to use the calculator

Enter comparable containers and weekly pickups per container. Use the charge for one container pickup, then add monthly rental or account fees. Check your bill to confirm that collection pricing is actually per pickup rather than an inclusive monthly contract.

Check the input assumptions

Review the help text beneath each field before calculating. Enter amounts in US dollars where shown and use consistent units. Change one assumption at a time to understand which inputs affect your result.

Formula and worked example

Annual container pickups = containers × weekly pickups × 52. Annual cost = annual pickups × charge per pickup + monthly fixed fees × 12. Average monthly cost = annual cost ÷ 12.

Example calculation

Three containers collected twice weekly generate 312 container pickups per year. At $25 each, service charges total $7,800. Fixed fees of $80 per month add $960, for $8,760 annually and $730 per average month.

These numbers illustrate the calculation; they are not recommended rates or industry benchmarks.

How to interpret your result

Compare schedules using the same container size and service scope. A lower pickup frequency reduces this modeled bill but may be unsuitable if the containers fill sooner or contract minimums apply.

What the estimate leaves out

The model does not estimate waste volume, weight, capacity, or compliance. Taxes, fuel adjustments, contamination charges, excess weight, and additional services require separate allowances if not included in the entered rates.

Frequently asked questions

What if my contract charges a flat monthly fee?

This per-pickup model may not reflect that contract. For a flat-fee scenario, set pickup charges to zero and enter the recurring fee in fixed monthly fees.

Why not use four weeks per month?

Four weeks per month totals only 48 weeks per year. This tool annualizes 52 weeks and divides the annual amount by 12.

Does three containers collected twice mean six pickups?

Yes. It counts six container services per week, even if one truck visit empties all three containers.

Are overweight charges included?

Only if incorporated in your rate or fixed allowance. Model variable weight charges separately when they are significant.

Will every monthly invoice equal the result?

No. Billing schedules and actual pickup counts can vary. The result is an annualized monthly average.
