What is this sample recipient conversion rate calculator?

This calculator measures observed ordering among a defined sample-recipient group. Each recipient counts once whether they place one order or several. The follow-up window and qualifying-order rule determine which conversions are counted.

How to use the calculator

Choose a recipient cohort and a fixed follow-up window. Count unique eligible recipients and those placing a qualifying order during that window. Exclude duplicate orders from the buyer count and use the same rule across comparisons.

Check the input assumptions

Review the help text beneath each field before calculating. Enter amounts in US dollars where shown and use consistent units. Change one assumption at a time to understand which inputs affect your result.

Formula and worked example

Recipient conversion rate = unique converted recipients ÷ eligible recipients × 100. Non-converted recipients = recipients − converted recipients.

Example calculation

If 18 of 100 sample recipients place a qualifying order during the tracking window, the observed conversion rate is 18%. Eighty-two recipients have not met that definition by the cutoff.

These numbers illustrate the calculation; they are not recommended rates or industry benchmarks.

How to interpret your result

Read the rate alongside order contribution and campaign cost. A high conversion rate can still be unprofitable if order margins are low or sampling costs are high.

What the estimate leaves out

The calculation is observational and does not establish incremental lift or causation. Existing customers, other marketing, and selection bias can affect the result.

Frequently asked questions

Do multiple orders count as multiple conversions?

No. Count each recipient once for this recipient-level measure.

How long should the window be?

Choose a window appropriate to the buying cycle and document it before comparing campaigns.

Does a conversion prove the sample caused the sale?

No. Attribution requires additional evidence beyond this ratio.

Can I include existing customers?

Yes, but label the cohort and qualifying purchase rule clearly. Consider tracking new and existing customers separately.

Is this a profitability measure?

No. It measures observed recipient conversion, not contribution or return on spending.
