What is this photo retouching capacity calculator?
This capacity calculator estimates finished images from a team’s productive editing time. It rounds each retoucher’s output down to whole images before multiplying by staff count. The result is a workload planning estimate rather than a promised delivery quantity.
How to use the calculator
Enter retoucher count and productive daily hours per person. Use a representative average minutes per image that includes checks and expected normal revisions. Group images separately when their complexity differs materially.
Check the input assumptions
Review the help text beneath each field before calculating. Enter amounts in US dollars where shown and use consistent units. Change one assumption at a time to understand which inputs affect your result.
Formula and worked example
Example calculation
Two retouchers with six productive hours each have 360 minutes per person. At 12 minutes per finished image, each can complete 30 images, giving a team capacity of 60 per day.
These numbers illustrate the calculation; they are not recommended rates or industry benchmarks.
How to interpret your result
Use the result to compare incoming work with finishing capacity. Leaving a margin for difficult images can make the schedule more realistic than planning every minute at the average rate.
What the estimate leaves out
The model assumes each person completes independent whole images. It does not pool leftover minutes across workers or account for review bottlenecks outside retouching.
Frequently asked questions
Why use productive rather than paid hours?
Paid hours can include meetings, breaks, and unrelated tasks that are unavailable for editing.
Can I use one rate for all images?
Only when the average is representative. Separate simple and complex groups when possible.
Why is leftover time not combined across people?
The model assumes each whole image is completed by one retoucher. It avoids treating scattered spare minutes as another finished image.
Are revisions included?
Include normal revision effort in minutes per finished image.
Does this set an employee performance target?
No. It estimates capacity from your assumptions and does not evaluate individual work quality.
