What is this office relocation budget calculator?

An office relocation budget calculator adds crew labor and separately quoted moving expenses. It helps make the scope of a move estimate visible. It does not inspect the premises or determine how many movers and vehicles the job needs.

How to use the calculator

Enter the crew count, hours per person, and a per-person hourly price. Add transport, packing materials, and other move costs only when they are not included in the labor quote. Check minimum hours and overtime charges with the mover.

Check the input assumptions

Review the help text beneath each field before calculating. Enter amounts in US dollars where shown and use consistent units. Change one assumption at a time to understand which inputs affect your result.

Formula and worked example

Labor cost = movers × hours per mover × hourly cost per mover. Total budget = labor + transport + packing materials + other move costs.

Example calculation

Four movers working eight hours at $45 each cost $1,440. Add $600 transport, $250 materials, and $300 other charges. The modeled relocation budget is $2,590.

These numbers illustrate the calculation; they are not recommended rates or industry benchmarks.

How to interpret your result

Compare quotes on the same inventory, access, and service scope. A cheaper base labor rate can be offset by minimum charges or excluded services.

What the estimate leaves out

The estimate excludes unentered costs and does not account for delays automatically. It is not a binding quote or an assessment of packing, lifting, access, or insurance requirements.

Frequently asked questions

My quote gives one hourly crew rate. What should I enter?

Either divide it by the crew size for a per-person rate or use one crew unit and clearly interpret the hours and rate consistently.

Does this include business downtime?

Only if you add a separate allowance to other costs.

Can I include temporary storage?

Yes, include the quoted cost in other move costs without duplicating it elsewhere.

Does the tool choose a suitable crew size?

No. Obtain that estimate from the actual move scope and supplier.

Are minimum billable hours considered?

Enter the billable hours required by the quote, even if expected hands-on work is shorter.
