What is this b2b sample campaign cost calculator?

This calculator adds the product and fulfillment costs of sending samples to a defined recipient group. It includes shared campaign expenses and shows the cost allocated to each recipient.

How to use the calculator

Enter recipient shipments, units per shipment, and unit product cost. Add packaging and shipping per recipient plus shared expenses. Use a consistent cost basis and include only costs relevant to the campaign.

Check the input assumptions

Review the help text beneath each field before calculating. Enter amounts in US dollars where shown and use consistent units. Change one assumption at a time to understand which inputs affect your result.

Formula and worked example

Product cost = recipients × sample units × unit cost. Fulfillment = recipients × (packaging + shipping). Total cost = product + fulfillment + shared expenses.

Example calculation

One hundred recipients receiving two $8 sample units create $1,600 product cost. Packaging at $3 and shipping at $7 add $1,000. Shared expenses of $400 bring the total to $3,000, or $30 per recipient.

These numbers illustrate the calculation; they are not recommended rates or industry benchmarks.

How to interpret your result

Compare campaign options with matching product quantities and delivery scope. Sending fewer units can lower cost but does not establish how the recipient’s buying decision will change.

What the estimate leaves out

The estimate excludes unentered follow-up labor, taxes, returns, and special shipping requirements. It does not estimate revenue or campaign profitability.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use retail price for samples?

Use the cost basis appropriate to your planning purpose and label it clearly. Retail price is not automatically your incurred product cost.

Does cost per recipient include shared expenses?

Yes. It allocates the total modeled budget across recipients.

Can each recipient receive a different kit?

Estimate kit groups separately and allocate shared costs once.

Where does follow-up labor go?

Add its relevant cost to shared expenses if it belongs in the campaign scope.

Does this calculate ROI?

No. It only estimates spending; attributable contribution would need a separate analysis.
